Summer School

This registration form is for parents to register their child for summer school at Brooks Secondary School. Please note there is a strict daily attendance requirement (more than 2 absences may result in withdrawal from the summer school program). Students will not be able to complete summer school courses if they have work or holidays scheduled at the same time. All classes start on Tuesday, July 4.

There are three distinct summer school programs at Brooks:

1. Academic Full Credit Courses (grades 10-12):

  • These courses are for students who wish to take a new course or to improve their grade in a course they have already taken.
  • Daily attendance is required from  9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (four hours) Mondays through Fridays, for four weeks (July 4-31).
  • Students will be completing their coursework via the online course platform, with the guidance and support of a teacher.

2. Academic Partial Credit Courses (grades 10-12):

  • These courses are for students who wish to pass a course they have already taken and failed. They must have a final mark of 35% or greater, or else they will need to take the full credit course instead.
  • This is a shorter version of the course, so the maximum grade attainable is 61% (C). 
  • Daily attendance is required from  9 - 11 a.m. or 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. (two hours) Mondays through Fridays, for four weeks (July 4-29). Students wishing to complete two partial credit courses must attend from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (four hours) every day.
  • Students will be completing approximately half of the regular course content of the online course, with the guidance and support of a teacher.

3. Academic Review (grades 8/9):

  • This program is for students who would benefit from extra instruction and support before transitioning to the next grade. The emphasis is on improving their literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Daily attendance is required from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (three hours) Mondays through Fridays, for three weeks (July 4-21).
  • Students will be completing their review work via in-class instruction, project-based learning (including some time spent outdoors) and personalized programs (e.g. Math IXL).
